FOUNDATION FOR CRITICAL THINKING & PROBLEM-SOLVING COURSE OBJECTIVE: The objective of the critical thinking and problem-solving project is to empower students with the skills and mindset necessary to analyze information, think critically, and tackle complex problems across various contexts. Through engaging and interactive learning experiences, students will delve into the realm of critical thinking, learning valuable skills such as logical reasoning, evidence evaluation, and creative problem- solving techniques. The project is designed to cultivate student’s ability to ask insightful questions, gather and assess relevant information, and generate innovative solutions. By the conclusion of the project, students will have enhanced their critical thinking skills, enabling them to tackle complex problems with a comprehensive and structured approach. They will be equipped with the tools necessary to unravel complexities, identify underlying patterns, and devise effective strategies for overcoming obstacles. Ultimately, the project empowers students to become agile and resourceful thinkers, capable of making informed decisions and contributing to positive change in their communities and beyond. COURSE OUTLINE: Class 1-5: Introduction to Critical Thinking Introduce the concept of critical thinking and its importance in everyday life. Teach students basic critical thinking skills, such as observation, questioning, and making connections. Engage students in activities that promote logical reasoning, such as puzzles, brain teasers, and simple experiments. Teach students to evaluate information and think critically about their own thoughts and beliefs. Class 6-8: Developing Problem-Solving Skills Introduce the problem-solving process, including defining a problem, brainstorming solutions, evaluating options, and making decisions. Teach students different problem-solving strategies, such as trial and error, breaking problems into smaller parts, and seeking assistance. Engage students in hands-on problem-solving activities and scenarios relevant to their daily lives. Foster a growth mindset and encourage students to view mistakes as opportunities for learning and improvement. Class 9-10: Analytical Thinking and Decision Making Introduce the problem-solving process, including defining a problem, brainstorming solutions, evaluating options, and making decisions.
